The Delta variant of COVID-19 is more highly transmissible than other variants, calling for greater precautions. Free masks are available at service desks, and hand sanitizer is available throughout the building.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Are the book drops open?
Yes, book drops are open 24/7 across the system. Please note that takeout technology and oversize items must be returned inside the libraries during open hours.
I have a temporary library card. Can I convert it to a permanent card?
Yes. Please bring a photo ID with your Massachusetts address, or a photo ID with one document such as a utility bill with both your name and current Massachusetts address, to any location open for browsing or contactless pickup.
Can I use a computer or print at the library?
Laptops will be available for checkout for onsite or at home use at all open locations. At the Main Library, the Tech Bar is open for desktop computing. At Central Square Branch, O’Connell Branch and O’Neill Branch, we are upgrading the furniture for the desktop computers, and they will be unavailable until the new furniture arrives. Printing is available at all open locations via our remote printing service.
Are you offering in-person programs and events?
We are beginning to offer in-person events again, both indoors and outdoors. We will continue to offer some virtual events this summer. Please check our event calendar for updates.
Can I request an interlibrary loan?
Interlibrary loan is now available.
Are your newspapers and magazines available?Not yet. We paused our subscriptions during the pandemic and are working on restarting them.
Are museum passes available?Museum passes are now available for patrons. We are still restarting some subscriptions, and more passes will be added over time.
